Swim Lessons FAQs

Have a Question?

Is the pool open to the public when lessons are running?

Yes! The pool remains open for casual swimming during lesson times. Please check our latest swimming pool timetable for session times.

Do you have to pay for parking?

Yes, standard parking charges apply.

How much are lockers?

Lockers require a 20p coin, which is refundable once you’re finished.

Do you have family changing rooms?

We currently have separate male and female changing rooms and do not offer family changing facilities. Children aged 8 years and over should use the changing room that matches their gender.

How early do we need to arrive for lessons?

We recommend arriving around 15 minutes before your lesson starts to allow plenty of time to get changed and ready for the pool.

I’m a gym member – are swimming lessons included in my membership?

Swimming lessons are booked separately and are not included within our gym memberships.

What days do lessons take place?

Lessons currently run:

  • Monday to Friday: 15:30 - 18:00
  • Saturday: 08:30 - 12:00
  • Sunday: 08:30 - 10:30

Specific lesson times may vary depending on the swimming level.

How long is each lesson?

Each swimming lesson lasts 30 minutes.

What is the teacher-to-swimmer ratio?

Our class sizes are designed to give swimmers plenty of support and attention:

  • Parent & Tots/Aqua Tots - 1:10
  • Ducklings - 1:5
  • Levels 1-5 - 1:8
  • Levels 6-7 & Competitive - 1:10
How many parents can join Parent & Tots or Aqua Tots?

One parent or guardian can join their child in the pool during each lesson. It doesn’t need to be the same adult every week.

My swimmer is ready for a higher level - what should we do?

If your swimmer would like to join one of our higher-level classes, they’ll first need to complete a swim assessment so we can place them in the most suitable group.

Do we need goggles for swim lessons?

Goggles are completely optional - you’re welcome to bring your own if your swimmer prefers to wear them.

Do we need floats or armbands?

Parent & Tots/Aqua Tots: You're welcome to bring your own buoyancy aids if your child is already comfortable using them.

Ducklings and above: We do not use armbands within our swim programme, but all floats and equipment needed for lessons will be provided.

Can parents watch the lessons?

Yes! Parents are welcome to watch from our spectator area. Access is via the main spectator doors after returning through the changing rooms.

For Duckling classes, parents may remain poolside to help provide support and reassurance where needed.

What happens if we miss a lesson?

Our swimming lessons run as a 12-week course, so missed lessons are unfortunately non-refundable and cannot be transferred. Don’t worry though, your swimmer’s place in the class will still be reserved for the remainder of the course.

Do swimmers receive distance or level badges?

Yes! Our swim teachers regularly assess swimmers throughout the course. When a swimmer achieves a new badge or certificate, these can be purchased from the Swim & Fitness Reception.

How do I pay for the next course in advance?

Towards the end of the course, you’ll receive an email with details of re-enrolment dates and how to secure your swimmer’s place for the next course.

Please make sure payment is completed before the re-enrolment deadline to guarantee your space. Don’t forget to check your junk or spam folder too, just in case!

Will we be notified when a swimmer is ready to move up?

Yes! Our team will contact you by email when your swimmer is ready to progress to the next level.

How can I contact the swim teachers to check my swimmer’s progress?

Please send an email to swimlessons@snowdome.co.uk

Our team will forward your questions to the relevant swim teacher. To help lessons run smoothly and start on time, we kindly ask that parents avoid speaking with teachers between sessions.

My swimmer needs to pause lessons due to medical reasons - what should I do?

Please contact our team at: swimlessons@snowdome.co.uk

A member of the team will be in touch to discuss your options. Medical evidence will be required in these circumstances.

Can I cancel lessons part way through a course?

Swimming lesson courses are non-refundable and non-transferable once booked. While you’re unable to cancel partway through a course, you are free to choose not to renew once the course ends.
