SnowDome will be hosting BASI level 1 this year.
The BASI 1 is an entry level course for skiers and snowboarders with aspirations to join the BASI education system.
The minimum standard expected for the course is confidence at turning on all types of slope and terrain. A sound knowledge of skiing or snowboarding itself is also useful.
The BASI level 1 qualification is for those wanting to find employment in a non-mountain environment, i.e. indoor snow facility etc. It is also the first stage of the BASI Instructor Level 2.
All candidates must be 16 years and above with a good technical ability and an understanding of client care.
Courses run for 5 days, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

This course is the equivalent to one week of the Level 2 course. On successful completion you will be required to attend a 2nd week in the mountain environment if you aspire to Level 2.
The Advanced UK Level 1 course is the second module of the BASI system of training and certification for working on Dry slopes and indoor snow centres. It is the training and assessment that leads to becoming a British Snowsports Instructor.
Once you have successfully completed the Advanced UK Level 1 course and Child Protection Modules, you can be registered on the Associations database as full member and will receive the licence, in house journal, ‘BASI News’ and all other full member’s benefits.

This first level course is run as a partnership with the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF) and is also the CSCF Entry Level Course.
This 3 day course aims to introduce candidates to the philosophies and skills to be an effective Coach whilst developing skiing over longer periods of time. It is ideal for Coaches, parents of young performers active in ski clubs, and Instructors with an interest in performance skiing.
The Development Coach Level 1 Certificate is a stand alone qualification, and leads candidates in to the Development Coach Level 2.
During this active 3 day training/assessment course candidates will improve their knowledge of; performance skiing; develop their personal skiing (carving, short turns and drills); and learn how to deliver a “coaching” session in the learner centered approach.

This 3-day course aims to introduce candidates to the philosophies and skills to be an effective Freestyle Coach. The course trainer is Pat Sharples, one of the top Trainers in Britain and the Freestyle team manager for Salomon and Oakley.
This course will teach you how to teach basic Freestyle and improve your own ability and knowledge of the Freestyle discipline. Candidates need to be to a strong level of skiing standard and above, with a good level of fitness.

Refreshers and Re-sits are one day courses. All instructors must attend a refresher every 3 years. These sessions are also designed to offer the opportunity for Level 1 candidates to re-sit part of their exam if necessary.
