SnowDome will be hosting BASI level 1 this year.
The BASI 1 is an entry level course for skiers and snowboarders with aspirations to join the BASI education system.
The minimum standard expected for the course is confidence at turning on all types of slope and terrain. A sound knowledge of skiing or snowboarding itself is also useful.
The BASI level 1 qualification is for those wanting to find employment in a non-mountain environment, i.e. indoor snow facility etc. It is also the first stage of the BASI Instructor Level 2.
All candidates must be 16 years and above with a good technical ability and an understanding of client care.
Courses run for 5 days, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

The Adaptive Level 1 Instructor is valid for instructing in controlled environments in the UK. This means that you can instruct in Indoor Snow Centres throughout the UK. The course is centred on the learning progression which includes knowledge & awareness of disabilities to enable effective assessment of students, continual practical assessment (technical and teaching) & all safety requirements.
Upon course and module completion successful students will be issued a certificate and be competent to work within a controlled environment (Indoor Snow Centres only).
On the 5 day training and assessment course you will cover the following subjects:

The Structure of Snowsport in the UK
The Roles of Snowsport Agencies in the UK

Technical aspects of Adaptive equipment
Adaptive progressions for above modules

Refreshers and Re-sits are one day courses. All instructors must attend a refresher every 3 years. These sessions are also designed to offer the opportunity for Level 1 candidates to re-sit part of their exam if necessary.
